As I said before, the group I spent Friday with was comprised of a couple of IJC’s form New York
and a fat chick (the sister of one of said IJC’s). I attempted to have an intelligent conversation with one of the attractive girls for a while, but as soon as we had exhausted out mutual admiration for firearms, it went pretty much south. Conversation was limited to what Murray Hill hotspots they enjoyed and the occasional game of Jewish Geography. These girls went to Hillel, and therefore did not know any of my friends who also grew up in Miami
, and as such the prospect for the evening were looking grim. Then I started talking to the fat girl. Well, wouldn’t you know it, she was the only one still residing in South Florida, and frequented many of the same bars I did. She likes a lot of the same TV shows. We even shared some funny jokes. When the conversation turned to stupid New York
bullshit, we both sat quietly and looked bored. She was, by far, the coolest girl out of the group.
Unfortunately, she was not attractive in the slightest. I mean no saving grace at all. So while she made a nice conversation partner, I could only sit and wish that she looked even slightly like one of the other two girls. Not only did she live in Miami, but she was a downright cool person to talk to. Now, I don’t need a particularly hot girl to make me happy, but I do need to be a little bit attracted or it just becomes painful and embarrassing. So as we moved bars and she suggested she switch seats with one of her more attractive counterparts so we could continue our discussion of Broward County Country Bars, I shrugged and said “Do whatever you want.” Why does it have to be this way? Why must the fat girl be the only person at the table (JewBag included) capable of carrying on an interesting conversation? There are plenty of explanations I am sure, but at the end of the day it is a sad fact of life that A) A girl who would probably make a lot of guys happy will find it hard to attract one because of her appearance and B) The better-looking girls will never have to develop a personality to attract men because they look good. Man, society sucks.
